Policies & Information Department

Establish, manage and operate a national data system, and formulate strategies and policies related to the digital economy, in line with global trends and national priorities, and ensure their implementation. The Department shall also ensure the availability of a digital infrastructure, along with an efficient, robust and flexible legislative environment and to build on it to ensure the availability of information and data and facilitate their fast and high quality exchange in order to serve  policy makers and decision makers at the national institutions to achieve sustainable economic development while ensuring the protection of personal data.

Policies and Strategies Directorate

Provide the necessary legislative environment and digital infrastructure, in order to harness current and emerging digital technologies supplied by the communications, information technology and postal service sectors; so as to activate the digital economy in Jordan and  ensure the use of technology in all sectors, in addition to activating the government’s digital transformation program.

Communication, Information Technology and Postal Policies and Strategies Division

Prepare, review and follow-up on the implementation of policies, strategies, programs, and legislative and administrative frameworks necessary to sustain and update the work of the telecommunications, information technology and postal sectors in line with global trends and national priorities that serve the achievement of the strategic directions and objectives of the Ministry, and ensure the completion of the approved plans and projects to develop the digital infrastructure and strengthen the digital economy.

Digital Transformation Policies and Strategies Division

Prepare, review and follow-up on the implementation of policies, strategies, programs, and legislative and administrative frameworks related to digital transformation at a national level, and update them in line with the global trends and national priorities, which will serve the achievement of the strategic directions and objectives of the Ministry, and ensure the completion of the approved plans and projects to develop the digital infrastructure and strengthen the digital economy.

 Artificial Intelligence Division

Prepare the legislative and administrative frameworks to support the adoption of Artificial Intelligence technologies, and support its growth in Jordan, in order to strengthen the digital economy; and take all necessary actions and measures to encourage government bodies to adopt Artificial Intelligence technologies, so as to ensure an improvement in the efficiency of government services.

Electronic Participation Division

Prepare the legislative and administrative frameworks to enable and promote the electronic participation in decision-making process at a national level, and modernized it to reflect the global trends. Take all necessary actions to encourage government bodies to abide by legislative mandates, implement e-participation and include Segments of society in decision making processes, designing of Government services, and provisioning of these services.

National Information System Directorate

Operate and develop an integrated information system, and manage it at the national level, in order to link up data centers in the private and public sectors; and to coordinate between all the centers within a national network, through which updated information and data are made available in various sectors and the adoption of the best practices to ensure the flow of information to all beneficiaries, thus enabling the State to make decisions pertaining to various priorities.

Data Management Division

Collect, classify, store and facilitate the secure, efficient and effective use of data, and spatially inter-connect this information, in order to assist institutions in making decisions, so as to ensure the achievement of requirements for comprehensive economic, social and political development.

Studies and Research Division

Prepare studies and reports related to economic performance on a macro and micro level, in order to clarify economic developments, along with the inherent factors causing these developments, thus contributing to the development of policies and the decision making process. The Department shall also study the impact of changing government policies and decisions on various economic sectors, especially digital sectors by developing and reviewing special economic models.

Communication Information and Information Technology Division

Provide periodic information related to the Communications, Information Technology and Postal sectors, in order to monitor and assess performance within these sectors, so as to support policy-making, develop strategic plans, and promote the Communications, Information Technology and Postal sectors, and to follow-up on international reports related to sector data and information.

Personal Data Protection Directorate

Prepare and follow-up on the implementation of the necessary legislative and administrative frameworks required to protect personal data, so as to support the use of electronic information, and encourage investments by entrepreneurs and business owners, in addition to guaranteeing individual rights; with the aim of enhancing confidence in the digital economy.

Approvals and Licenses Division

Approve and withdraw consent and permits for the transfer or exchange of personal data related to the approval, and withdraw approval to process personal data outside the Kingdom.

Organizational Affairs Division

Monitor the work of personal data-protection observers, in order to verify their adherence to the provisions of the law; and prepare instructions which clarify the conditions and procedures required to obtain the approval, and to withdraw approval and permits related to the transfer and exchange of information within and outside of the Kingdom, and submit them to Parliament for approval.

Notifications and Complaints Division

Receive reports and complaints related to the violations of the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law, and investigate these reports and complaints with the concerned parties, and take appropriate decisions in accordance with the provisions of the law.
