The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship held a dialogue session today, Monday, in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and with the support of the European Union, under the project “Together for an Accountable and Transparent Public Administration in Jordan.” The session was attended by a number of IT and institutional development directors from ministries and government institutions.
Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Sami Smirat, emphasized that digital transformation in Jordan has become a tangible reality thanks to the integration of national efforts. He highlighted the digitization of 1,728 government services, reaching 72%, and the launch of more than 500 services through the Sanad application, with a plan to reach 80% by the end of this year and 100% by 2026.
The Minister also referred to key landmark projects launched by the Ministry, such as the Digital Hospital, the E-passport, electronic gates at Queen Alia International Airport, and the E-invoicing system, in addition to the Open Data Platform, the “Tawasul” E-participation Portal, and the operation of nine comprehensive government service centers, which processed more than 3.7 million transactions with a satisfaction rate of 98%.
Smirat stressed the importance of the next phase, which requires strengthening governance, accelerating the transition to the government cloud, improving data quality and integration, and leveraging modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Big Data. He affirmed that, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Jordan is confidently moving toward building a fully integrated digital government experience worthy of its citizens.
